Reporter Correspondent – Saskatoon (1 year term)

We are seeking a skilled journalist who is ready to join our News team as a Reporter Correspondent. If you would like to chase exciting stories and contribute to our talented news crew in the beautiful city of Saskatoon, then we would love to hear from you.

• Discover and pitch your own story ideas, cover daily breaking news and current affairs stories;
• Join a team that provides coverage of the issues facing Indigenous communities locally, nationally and worldwide;
• Craft high quality stories and scripts for multi-platform use, including the recommendation of visuals, graphics, etc. and demonstrate great time management skills;
• Structures, researches, writes and develops approved pitches or assigned stories for multi-platform use;
• Evaluate leads/tips, follows and covers breaking news, interviews sources, and assesses newsworthiness for APTN specific viewers/audiences;
• May be asked to represent APTN on-air and/or in public forums as a recognizable face of the organization;
• Seek to maintain the excellent reputation of APTN at all times.
Your accomplishments and experience include:
• A degree/diploma in journalism or related field with proven experience related to journalism;
• A great on-camera presence, solid judgment, research techniques and the ability to be flexible;
• A strong ability to articulate and effectively communicate issues relevant to Indigenous communities;
• Strong computer skills and knowledge of broadcast technology;
A valid driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract – since you’ll be travelling to obtain your exciting stories.
