Elder Judy Gingell is Executive Elder of the Kwanlin Dun First Nation and has made contributions to advance Indigenous rights and governance in Yukon. She’s also an inspirer of First Nation politics and advocate for economic development.

Being an ambassador of building bridges between First Nations and the greater society, Elder Judy has held the position of Chair of the Council for Yukon First Nations and was Yukon’s first Indigenous Commissioner.

As an ex-officio APTN Chair and Board of Director Member, she returns to represent the Northwest Quadrant.

She was awarded a Commissioner of Yukon Public Service Award in 2001, a National Indigenous Achievement Award – Community Development in 2005, the Order of Canada in 2009, and a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
